Kevin opens the show with a recap of Golden State’s dramatic Game 5 win over Houston last night. Bobby Marks/ESPN was a guest on the show talking NBA Playoffs, Wizards, etc. Michael Phillips/Richmond Times-Dispatch was on the show previewing Redskins’ mini-camp. Scott Van Pelt called in to talk NBA Playoffs and Tony Romo’s attempt at the Byron Nelson. Some Nats’ conversation also with Aaron.
I love hearing Van Pelt talk about GOT. Classic… I’m starting to think he’s liking it, and he’s gonna go back and binge it from the start. I’ve done that myself, sometimes it a show is in progress and popular it’s intimidating to jump in. Breaking Bad, The Wire, and Lost are some shows I binged from beginning to end after they were finished airing.
And as far as GOT… yes this season seems very hurried and it’s annoying. It’s like they just want to get it over with. Most seasons had a lot of conversations, people traveling from place to place, and this season is just blowing through all of that. I mean the whole attack of the dead that was foreboding throughout the entire series “Winter is Coming” was wrapped up in one show. I just wish they made more episodes for the final season and focused more on some of the emotions instead of blowing through it in a compacted rushed race to the end.
And another comment on GOT…
It’s amazing how ineffective the dragons have been in battle! I mean there was all this hoopla about the dragons, thought to be gone forever, and how devastating they are. How everyone must kneel to the “Mother of Dragons”. How the North must bow to have the dragons right for them. I mean, they look awesome when they appear soaring through the sky shooting fire like a blow torch! But, in the 1st encounter with the Night King, he kills one of them, and turns it to his side to use it against them and blast through the Wall that has been holding them back for thousands of years. Then in the main battle, the two remaining dragons literally just flew around in the clouds the entire time and basically accomplished nothing. Then last week the Dragon gets shot down before the battle even starts. They don’t torch a single boat. Then the other one just flies away as their entire fleet gets decimated. I mean they look cool, but in battle they are completely worthless, all bark and no bite.
I mean I’m starting to think , there’s got to be more to the dragons in this story! I’d love to see something like the last Dragon somehow manages to summon a huge fleet of Dragons that have been hiding away all these years in some far away land, and they fly in and level Kings Landing into rubble. Otherwise, if this is all they got they are very disappointing to say the least.
Hey Kevin, would love it if you could talk more about The Wizards. They got a lot going on, the GM search, the draft, free agency, roster and organizational construction.
Also, really enjoyed when you had Ben Standig on. He should definitely be a regular. Maybe you could have him in studio one day a week? The show is a lot better when you have a cohost. Thom is the best, you should have him as much as possible. Maybe on his off days you can get a regular rotating schedule going of guys like Ben, or Cooley, or Knocke, or Andy, or Gary Williams?
Also, is it me or is your show getting shorter? And what is the deal with Van Pelts phone?? It sounds like Cooley gave him his old phone! I mean dudes got some bucks, invest in a quality phone!!
Also, you’ve been slacking on the Scent Bird discussions.
Love the show, thanks, and keep up the good work!
