Kevin had JP Finlay on the show to wrap up last week’s mini-camp and to provide a reality check for those that believe Taylor Heinicke can win the starting quarterback job. At 33:15, David Aldridge joined to talk NBA ratings, games, and to make predictions on what happens the rest of the way. Kevin finished up with Packers’ CEO Mark Murphy’s latest shot at Aaron Rodgers.
Kevin and Thom start today with thoughts on the Associated Press and Table Tennis gambling. Starting at 22:47, they discuss Ron Rivera’s QB competition thoughts and Montez Sweat’s comments yesterday on not being a fan of the Covid vaccine. Also discussed: Barry Trotz’s Islanders win another series while the Nats had a significant win last night in Tampa.
Kevin opened today with the amazing run of individual performances from the NBA Playoffs. At 10:30 he played the Chase Young answers from yesterday’s press conference as to why he didn’t post for any of the OTA days and reacted. Then at 23:40, Marc Sterne (aka Nigel) joined the show for some Tony Kornheiser Show reminiscing and a lot more.
Kevin and Thom today on Washington Football’s first day of mandatory mini-camp. Chase Young was back after being the only player on the team to not show up to OTAs.
At 15:00, the guys talked about whether or not they believe Ron Rivera’s first full summer of camps/preseason games will produce a legitimate quarterback competition between Ryan Fitzpatrick, Taylor Heinicke, and Kyle Allen. Kevin thinks the “Greek Freak” isn’t good enough in the playoffs. They also discussed the Roger Federer non-injury withdrawal from the French Open on Sunday.
Kevin opened with some NBA including Jeff Van Gundy’s controversial remarks on ABC’s broadcast of the Clippers-Mavs 7th game. He talked a little bit about Jon Rahm’s forced withdrawal from The Memorial. Then he brought on NFL agent and former NFL salary cap exec J.I. Halsell to discuss the Julio Jones trade and why fans and media never seem to have a handle on what the worth of a player is in a trade. Plenty of Washington Football Team talk with J.I. as well.
Kevin is joined by Ben Standig/The Athletic to talk some Wizards and NBA to start before getting to a Washington Football OTA wrap-up. Who stood out? How much optimism is there about the offense? What’s the real reaction to Chase Young not showing up any of the OTA days? Then, Eddie C. from Florida, who nailed The Preakness on this podcast a few weeks back makes a return visit to pick tomorrow’s Belmont Stakes.
