Kevin and Thom today with a full buffet of carbs and culture. The end of the show featured Kam Curl’s surprising spot on CBS Sports.com’s Top 100 NFL Player list. Other sports topics like Washington Redskins/WFT draft day steals, the Nats’ getting ripped off, US Open golf, and Bradley Beal trade destinations were discussed on the show. Also on the show, Hemingway, Cormac McCarthy, and Watergate (The White House Plumbers).
Kevin opened with the ESPN news that Bradley Beal and the team are open to trade scenarios. Ben Standig/The Athletic jumped on to talk Commanders, Novak Djokovic, and more. Denny McCarthy was a guest talking about LA Country Club and this weekend’s US Open.
Thom was back and annoyed per usual. His trip to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the NFL Hall of Fame, and the Andy Warhol Museum went well but a run-in at the Cleveland Hilton Garden Inn was a topic during the opening segment of the show. The boys discussed Denver’s NBA Championship and plenty on Sam Howell, Jacoby Brissett, Ron Rivera and more Commanders.
Kevin opened with his Top 10 Washington Football “What Ifs” list. It was a follow-up to the conversation he had with Fred Smoot on Friday’s show. He then got to the Ian Rappaport comment from Friday’s Pat McAfee show when he said about Washington’s new ownership….”they’re not changing the name”. Al Galdi jumped on for the rest of the show to talk Commanders and Stephen Strasburg’s legacy.
Kevin with a Chase Young hypothetical to start the show along with a pick on tonight’s Miami-Denver Game 4. Then it was Fred Smooth with so many great takes they’re impossible to list. But his best, the comparable for Sam Howell aka “The Lone Wolf” is HOFer Kurt Warner!
Kevin is joined by Michael Phillips/Richmond Times-Dispatch to recap Commanders’ mini-camp. The boys discussed Ron Rivera’s confirmation today that Sam Howell has maintained his QB1 spot heading into training camp later in the summer. They talked Eric Bieniemy, Howell to Dyami Brown, the running backs, tight ends, and Michael’s pick to be a surprise contributor in 2023. Kevin finished up talking about the Wizards’ introducing their new front office today along with thoughts on Denver’s impressive Game 3 win in Miami.
